How to prepare for your upcoming roofing project.

Ridge Kings Roofing looks forward to making your project work as smoothly as possible, here are some helpful tips to make your installation successful!

Inside Preparations

Please be prepared for quite a bit of noise! There will be constant hammering and nailing during the project. Many people choose to plan to be away from the project while the job is in progress.

Remove all loose items from wall shelves and walls: pictures, plates, figurines, etc. Hammering creates vibrations that may shake items off of shelves and walls.

Please do not loan your tools or equipment to our roofers and feel free to contact one of our project managers if you have any concerns.

The shingles for your project were ordered according to your specifications regarding style and color. When shingles are delivered to your site, please verify one last time and notify us immediately if you believe there are any problems. We welcome your questions, so please never hesitate to talk to us.

Outside Preparations

Occasionally, we will need to use power tools to cut decking or shingles. If you would please check your power breakers and outside electrical outlets to make sure they are operating correctly we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

We will need access to your parking areas to load shingles, clean up and haul away debris. Please park your cars, motorcycles, bicycles, boats, etc. out of the parking areas during the roofing process.

Please remove all items from around the house where roofing debris or bundles of shingles might fall: patio and pool furniture, potted plants, gardening equipment, grills and toys. Leaves or blooms may be knocked off plants near your home during the roofing process. We try to protect the plants as best possible, but there are times the layout of the landscape prevents us from doing so.

Please allow us a moment to check your home heater, hot water heater and stove vents upon completion of your roof to make sure that they haven't become loose in the attic. This practice prevents any unwanted ventilation problems for our clients.

On days that it rains, or there is a high probability of rain, work on your roof will be delayed. If we are expecting rain conditions, our roofers are instructed not to tear off more shingles than we can replace in one day. At times unforeseen conditions hamper this effort, but please know that we take every precaution possible so that your roof is not exposed to inclement weather.

Please keep small children and pets away from the work area at all times during the roofing process.

Other Notes

Precautions are taken to prevent any gutter damage. There are instances when damage to gutters occurs, especially on very steep roofs or ones that are completely surrounded by gutters. Should any damage occur, we will schedule and oversee needed repairs. Sites with loose, hanging or rusted gutters will be notified as liability cannot be assumed in these instances.

During the installation of your roof, nails will fall from the roof. We will pick these up with a magnetic nail roller. Know that we will make every effort to pick up all nails. Be advised; however, that a few nails, hidden in the grass or shrubbery, may remain. If you notice any, contact us and we will come out to pick them up.
